Issara Institute

Issara Institute is a U.S. non-profit organization established in 2014 by former United Nations anti-trafficking experts. It operates in Asia and the United States, focusing on combating human trafficking, forced labor, and labor exploitation in global supply chains. The organization employs a model that emphasizes worker voice, partnerships, and technology innovation to address these issues, particularly in export-oriented industries in Thailand. The Issara Model integrates three key pillars: worker voice, which includes on-the-ground networks for reporting and safeguarding; partnerships with various stakeholders; and innovation through worker-centered technology. Issara provides services such as 24/7 helplines for reporting abuses, training programs for workers on rights and safe migration, and inclusive labor monitoring to improve supply chains. The organization also develops proprietary technologies, including the Golden Dreams smartphone app, to educate migrant workers and facilitate ethical recruitment practices. Through its collaborative efforts, Issara aims to create sustainable and fair labor practices across supply chains.
